March 10, 2017 – Karma Group have announced the acquisition of the Karma Minoan, a new timeshare resort on Crete just outside the gorgeous historical town of Agios Nikolaos.
Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands, 88th-largest island in the world and the fifth-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, after Sicily, Sardinia, Cyprus, and Corsica. Crete and a number of surrounding islands and islets constitute the region of Crete.
The island has an elongated shape: it spans 260 km (160 mi) from east to west, is 60 km (37 mi) at its widest point, and narrows to as little as 12 km (7.5 mi).
It was once the center of the Minoan civilization (c. 2700–1420 BC), which is currently regarded as the earliest recorded civilization in Europe.
Chic is a word often used when describing Agios Nikolaos on the Greek island of Crete. Its streets are a colorful blend of bars, traditional tavernas and upscale clothes shops, counterbalanced with fish markets and earthy kafeneia (coffee houses). The town serves as a hub to the twenty or so small villages and farms that make up that part of Lassithi.
Life is centered around the harbor- a great place to sit, eat and drink while watching the boats coming and going. In the summer the road is closed to vehicles as tavernas make use of the space to put tables and chairs right on the water’s edge.
The Karma Minoan: A New Timeshare Resort in Crete
Located only 5kms from the town, Karma’s captivating new address is nestled between rugged mountains and the sea. Karma Minoan will be comprised of a selection of hotel apartments and one and two bedroom suites along with pool, bar, restaurant, library, spa and kids club.
Each of the property’s 26 holiday apartments offer panoramic views of Mirabello Bay, Agios Nikolaos and the surrounding mountains. Guests will be able to spend their days lounging by the large swimming pool, or strolling down to Amoudara Beach to dive into the waters of the Aegean Sea.
The resort is named after the Minoan civilization, rulers of the island three and a half thousand years ago. The Minoans left many magnificent palaces and ruins and walking the streets of Agios Nikolaos is like stepping back in time.
Settled since the Bronze Age, the town has long offered safe harbour for sailors, and now the 255 berth marina is one of Crete’s most impressive and well provisioned.
Visitors can relax in the cool shade of one of the many local tavernas serving authentic Cretan cuisine – the flavors of which embody a lineage as old as Arabia and the Ottoman Empire – in between exploring more contemporary cuisine at one of the many upmarket fine dining restaurants in the town.
Greece and the Financial Crises
Unfortunately, Greece is still in bad shape economically due to its financial crises. While it makes it harder on the people living there it does make Crete and Greece a bargain for travelers. The normally warm Cretans have notched their friendliness up a little more because tourism is a good source of income in these tough times.
In the bigger cities you most likely will come across demonstrations but not so much on the tourist areas like Agios Nikolaos. You many find local transportation limited due to gas prices.
By using your timeshare to exchange to the new timeshare resort on Crete, the Karma Minoan, you will be helping the people during a difficult time. Studies have shown that since timeshare owners aren’t paying for high priced hotel rooms they contribute more to the small business owers.
Sharing a beer or a coffee with a talkative native can provide you with a lesson in contemporary Greece that’s every bit as fascinating as the Classical stuff.
